Hi there. A red dot sight is traditionally no magnification or low magnification, small tube and designed to be mounted forwards on the rifle. On an AR it's usually mounted where the upper receiver meets the top rail, or even further forward.

For gallery rifle you'll find a traditional telescopic sight much more what you're shooting against.

You can get telescopic sights with a red dot at the centre of the reticle and illumination is pretty common too though not at all necessary for most kinds of shooting.

What's your budget for this scope and are you exclusively using it on a .22 rimfire at 25-50 yards?

Answering these questions should pull in plenty of "go for one of these" posts!

At the budget end I'd get a vortex crossfire as they make nice glass at the cheap end. If you've got a few hundred quid, vortex viper would be my recommendation. Amazing value for money and unbeatable warranty.

I'm looking for something Wichita is quick to acquire the target at 25yds and when I move for still fast.I use a telescopic sight at the moment but having issues with it.just looking for something that is quick and easy to use that doesn't need constant sighting in

Vortex SPARC II would do nicely then :-)

Sounds like your current scope is broken. Take a look at the vortex 1-4 power scopes or the 2-6.

I don't know a single person who shoots gallery with a red dot.

I use a Shield red for that, but get beaten most times by the low power scope lot
