Does anyone know of a club near to Southampton or Pompey that will cater for multi-position with a rimfire auto folks?

I am thinking ahead to my wife retiring and also getting some CSR practice in without trolling up to Bisley.

Try Havant Rifle & Pistol Club. They have a 50 metre outdoor range where 3p rim fire is shot amongst other disciplines

Havant allows 22 & gallery rifle, but does not mention semi auto?, their range safety rules as published on their web follow the NSRA ones in that you cant have a loaded magazine? you load the mag on the FP, then the mag to gun then shoot that would play havoc with some CSR practice. I argued that down at our range & insisted if applied to 22 magazines the same was applied to little wooden bullet blocks for 22 TR.

Am not sure you can run-down the range? think all firing is from the fixed FP even if it were possible? NSRA ranges tend to have that mentality from birth.

However on a plus note I do see they allow full-bore calibres but only if downloaded to the range Cert levels & proven over a chrono. That in my experience is unusual for NSRA administered ranges.

It was a NSRA rifle club so although it allows muzzle & gallery rifles its main focus is NSRA TR. CSR even with a 22 semi may not be on their radar? but it could generate a new discipline & approach to them if they are open minded to it?

Or find a club that uses Tipner on the other side of Pompy island; 600m full bore range & start a local CSR league shooting proper 5.56?.

There are many clubs in this area - many evolved out of the NSRA rifle leagues (Southsea, Railway, Wickham, W Meon, Chichester, Fareham, Soton, Headly Pk & Havant) more than most counties.

Cheers H, I am not worried about the full CSR monty, running about and all that, just some multi positional practice would be good.

I will fish about a bit, renewal is due in August so adding a 15-22 to the cabinet seems like a plan if I can shoot it somewhere.

Havant does not allow running up and down the range. Most of us could not do it anyway

All shooting is done from the fixed firing points. .22 semi,s are in abundance. The club has over 200 members and have a very strong .22 section, Air, black powder and LSR. A lot of the members use downloaded full bore rifles. The club is also affiliated to the NRA, MLGB, as well as the NSRA. There is also a 100 yard range where shooting from the bench or prone is allowed. On the 50 yard range and also in one of the 25 metre indoor ranges, there are turning targets. On the average Sunday morning you will see, black powder, rifles, pistols, air rifles, .22 semis, 303's and who knows what on the outdoor range. The one thing it is not, is just a NSRA club.
