Off upto the Lake District at the weekend and wondering if there are any gunshops worth a visit enroute?
Will be joining M5 at j23 and traveling north onto M6 till j36 Kendall so if there's any worth visiting not too far off the motorway .
TIA

Shooting Supplies at Bromsgrove.
Little bit further off would be "Simply firearms".
Oddly enough I have a similar trip planned this weekend.

Yes, not too far from junction 5 M5.
Warning there's motorway road works M5 from jct 6 to jct 4a with a 50 mph speed limit policed by average speed cameras.
I always have a laugh when I see a car go speeding passed then brake when the driver sees the cameras on the gantry, obviously not aware of the concept of how the SPECS system works.

I try and get out of their way as quickly as possible, to keep their average speed up, and then I continue along at 52mph on cruise control, whipping past people that think the 50 limit means they now need to do 40mph.

Thanks there seems to be permanent roadworks round there.
I often wonder if some people have local knowledge that certain camera systems are turned off as you see so many speeding through some of these average speed sections that you would think they would tot up their 12 points + by the time they are through.

Has anyone ever themselves, or heard of anyone actually getting a ticket from an average speed zone? There's been a 40mph

, then 30mph

average speed section of the A1 near me for nigh on 2 years now and I've never heard of anyone actually getting a ticket. Praise jeebers the works are supposedly finishing in June this year as its like being professionally tortured driving on a motorway at that speed

Yes, a previous boss of mine was on a speed awareness course. One of the other participants explained that she had been caught by an average speed camera. Her excuse was that "she didn't know what average meant", so she'd slowed for the gantries and then sped back up to an indicated 70.

As I said earlier there are drivers who don't understand how the average speed cameras work and brake when they see the gantry then speed up again when passed it.
Cruise control or speed limiter together with an accurate speed readout from the satnav is the way to go.
