The other evening

I spent a good couple of hours watching the hedge line middle top just below the Rape, distance was 675 yards. Failing light stopped play in the end.

Rounds fired = zero however it was great to watch the local wildlife with a couple of Roe at 550 yards and a Buzzard coming to the woods to the right.

Sometimes it's the things you don't do that make it all worthwhile. :good:

It is amazing what will show if you stay very still for a couple of hours. The noise from the Larks a few minutes before dusk was impressive and then as the sun fell below the skyline they just stopped and there was not a sound, no birds, no animals, no cars or aircraft and hardly a whisper of wind or rustle of leaves. It is at this point you really start to concentrate :)

That's a cool photo, what camera/settings did you use?

Lovely :)

The rape looks further than 600 to me though, my internal distance calculator must be out!

Rape seed   ...the devils flowers, the RAF shoul be using it for napalm practice......

Nothing to beat that wee bit as night falls when it all goes still and quiet and it's just a few birds chirping - happy childhood memories is that...

I used an iFone with the panoramic picture thingy so it all looks a bit out of perspective, the woods on the right hand of the picture were on my true right at about 90m from memory whereas the Rape was front. One thing you can see is the rolling hills of the Wolds and the tremendous backdrops we have.

Rape is horrible stuff when the dogs have been in it after something, they reek for ages and it leaves an oily waxy finish on their coats.
