I've seen Wayne shooting his at a mini rifle event, seemed to run pretty smoothly!

Expensive ammo and most ammo out there is expanding. So target ammo is scarce.

Ammo was v-hard to get hands on last year, now is ok-fmj from cci and s&b,from 22-28£ per 100.So,the same as milsurplus ak rounds, but in semiauto it is used sooo quick.... but great fun!

As a rifle used in UK rifle comps - what is the advantage over .22LR ?

More bang and more unusual :)

Nothing I guess buy not everyone takes part in comps so I guess it's the same fun factor as .22lr rifles but with a little more recoil a bigger bang and around three times the power of a .22lr shooting minimags.

Honestly don't know. Maybe flatter trajectory across typical distances, resulting in a smaller difference between POA and POI at differing distances?
Not something I could justify the cost of compared to minimag when you might be powering through 200-300 a night.
The main draw for many would be the more powerful cartridge in semi auto, but realistically there isn't much you'd use it for in the UK as we have comps and events based around what is more commonly available to us and for hunting you have other calibre choices that are more suitable.

Part of the fun with a .22lr is how cheap it is, I think the feel good factor on ammo price could evaporate quicker at £28/100, when you're used to spending £27/500.
But it's all part of the fun, I just think that when you're bored with it you'll lose money selling it or find it very hard to shift. Otherwsie we'd have seen more of .22WMR Ruger 10/22s in the UK, which I would rather have as they won't cost as much as an AR, parts are easier to come by and the only down side is they hold 9 in the mag against 14 of the AR offering.

.22wmr marlin is head and shoulders above any tactycool ar clone.Ammo price is inflated about 30% in UK.This calibre will be back for various of reasons-one of them is more versatile then plain .22LR
