Just thought I would share. I have had this musket for some 18 months, but had real trouble getting it to fire without priming under the nipple. Finally sorted it and thought I would share.

Shooting a percussion cap left handed brings its own challenges as my face is very close to the nipple :-)

Any chance of some decent photos of the gun?

What was the ignition problem and how did you resolve it?

Shooting muzzle loaders always gets that smile.

I am a lefty and shoot many percussion and flintlock guns no problem, just wear shooting glasses which should be de rigueur anyway.

Got my first LH flintlock this years after four decade of shooting flinters.

The musket was taken in by my local gun shop with a shotty and cost me 80 quid. The original nipples thread was in poor condition so Kranks (they sell an inert version) found me a match. It would only fire if you poured powder under the nipple and I sussed that the flash hole was in the side of the barrel so the nipple screwed past it and seated on the floor. I tried a notch in the nipple base but it wasnt enough, so I ground a 45 deg angle facing the flash hole and this has allowed the cap to get to the powder.

Sights are basic, but aiming low and 60 grains of powder got the .675 ball on the target.

Luckily I am blind (glasses) so eyes are safe, but my wife pointed out my breathing out smoke at the end of the clip :-)

You do not need a photo hosting site to add pics.
Just down load irfanview its free photo editing software.
Take your picture transfer it to your computer. Put the picrure you want to post on your desk top.
Resize it using irfanview then just add it to your post.
It takes me 5 minutes to add a photo to my computer resize it and post it on the forum. I dont understand why people use hosting sites and it amazes me that people can not resize and add a photo of your desk top.
I just dont get it.

Interestingly, a mate had a rifled replica Enfield Muskatoon with him today, and the action is almost identical, but without the branding, or rifling

Ya could avoid the left hander problem (face near the action) the same way guitarists get around the problem.
