Okay,

So I bought a No. 5.

I'm looking for some bits. Not urgent, but if anyone's got anything lying around that they'd part with for cheap... ;)

Seating/Sizing Dies
Press and Primer Case Holder (Lee)
Charging Clips (SMLE Style suitable for No. 5)
Anything else .303 related, I may need, or require...

What you got? :)

Did you not get the ones from ds-solutions they were the cheapest available I have seen for a long time. I bought some they are excellent.

Would highly recommend getting a broken case removal tool as the rimmed .303 case is prone to case-head separation over the course of reloading. So far, I've had to use mine twice over 800 rounds, so it's not used often but it certainly allows you to keep shooting on a range day!

Good shout. I have read a fair bit about the old .303 case head separation issue. How do they work, where can I grab one?

Hmm, I wonder if my .308 one will suffice?

I haven't yet, I'm not sure I'll need 10 of them... I should just bite the bullet and grab some.

I bought mine from DS Solutions but I just checked their website and they don't seem to have them. Check on eBay as they tend to come up every now and then.

I would avoid full length sizing .303 brass as much as you can to expand the life of the case. Also, stay away from Sellior & Bellot brass for reloading is it tends to split quite fast (had lots of splitting at 4x reloads with neck sizing) even with mild loads. However, the S&B 180gr FMJ shoots very nicely. Privi brass is good for reloading.

The best combination I've had is Privi brass with S&B 180gr FMJ bullets, a nice fist sized group at 100m.

You chamber it like a round and close the bolt. The plug goes inside the remains of the case and when the botd is opened, it expands to grip the inside and pull it out. They were originally supplied in Bren tool wallets. Try searching 'burst case extractor' or 'clearing plug' on Fleabay (Remember to get a 303 one)

Thanks all.

Charging clips ordered from DS. Looking for an expander plug now, although might have to be after Christmas as my pennies are getting short :(

Congrats on joining the #5 club clapclap

As it happens I was using mine on Sunday and I had a failure to fire. The case full of unburnt power ejected and the bullet remained stuck it the barrel. Fortunately the club lent me a full length barrel tool but it was still not easy to remove.
That was using reloads (not mine)
I've used only new PPU up until that point with much success, so I'll be steering clear of reloads from now on I think!

I have an original RN blue sling if you're interested?
