It ought to include .22 WMR (as well as .22 Short, .22 Long and .22 Long Rifle) but your local ploddery's interpretation may be different and incorrect.

Sounds like I'd better check with the Licensing man...

I've always viewed it from the perspective of "What did you apply for?" If you applied for .22RF, then fill yer boots, if you applied for .22lr, then that's what you should buy.

Sometimes it comes down to the RFD, let alone the police, with some refusing to sell you something that on the face of it you're permitted to buy!

Thanks for the info.

Looks like I'd be better sticking to LR, as it'll be for target shooting, rather than 'critters'.

Even if an RFD was happy to sell you WMR on a .22RF ticket, you would presumably need non expanding ammo for target use - there isn't a great deal of choice of solids in WMR as it is a varmint bashing round. CCI do Maxi-Mags, but they are jacketed solids so may fall foul of some indoor range requirements. You might get grumpy people on the next lane if you use it at a smallbore club as they're only used to the gentle crack of 1000fps Eley :)

Maxi-Mags also sounds like a feminine hygiene product or a nice old couple you'd meet at Bingo...

My ticket has a .22 rimfire slot my FEO said I could use for WMR if you wanted. There's no consistency in this business.

Are they definitely jacketed? Most .22RF is just copper washed and is basically a lubricant rather than anything that adds to ballistics/penetration
