Saiga mags

#1 Post by Charlie J »

Where can I buy genuine 30 round mags for the Saiga AK . I have a few converted AK ones but want to try a Saiga one . I looked on Russ.Military site but didn't see them , maybe I missed them , wouldn't be the first time .

I am not sure they exist.

Saiga is a "sporting" rifle hence the loe capacity.

Best advice.......fit a feed ramp and fettle the mag catch, it opens up a world of cheap military AK mags which are often much cheaper and easier to find than the Saiga specific mags.Fitted a few feed ramps myself, if you can drill and tap a hole and use a file it's a doddle.

Only reason Izhmash/Kalashnikov Concern went with a specific mag with its integral feed ramp was so they could sell the Saiga as a "sporting/hunting rifle" as military-spec mags won't lock up and feed reliably.

This shows the difference between a Saiga mag and an "AK" mag.....Saiga mag is the one with the yellow follower.
