A couple of my favourites ...
Both are handmade really nice to hold and keep their edges.
What type of knife is it? Or what is it used for?

The top knife looks like it is designed to be held with an edge-in grip, with the finger going through that hole. The guard piece in front of the finger hole looks like it is designed to smash things with a punching motion like a knuckle duster, and cuts would be made by pulling the blade back towards the user. This kind of cut, with such a small sheepsfoot blade, would suggest to me that it is meant to cut something cord-like. So my guess would be something like collecting nuts or some kind of hard fruit or vegetable that need cutting from their parent plant but also smashing open, or possibly for cleaning or butchering some kind of game where one must break bones and cut ligaments.
I'm not entirely satisfied with that explanation though because I can't explain why you would have a knuckle duster type smasher rather than simply leasing some of the tang exposed with which to hammer. I also can't explain why the ring would (appear to) be for the middle or ring finger (depending on whether the knife is held tip up or tip down) rather than the index finger.

Unless it is a knife/bottle opener combo maybe?

As Porcupine suggests, the top one is designed to put your middle finger through the hole and the index finger in the notch ...
It is not a knuckle duster or a bottle opener.
The location of the maker might be a clue ...
Not too sure of the lower one - I bought it because I liked the knife, the price and the person who made it! The cost me under £20 each - handmade with stitched leather sheath.

NO ... although a decent red (Shiraz or Pinotage) could be consumed whilst the knife is being used!

Something sea food or shell fish related was my next guess but not with a red... Thing is it looks familiar
