BMW cars are excellent - I drove dozens of new models as a test driver for a well known petroleum company. I've visited their factory and test facilities which are extremely impressive (when I was working for another well known company that designed dealership software). However, I just cannot bring myself to buy a BMW because of the type of person that usually purchases their products.

The last 'proper' car we owned was a 3 series Touring and it was hard to fault as a vehicle. I also rode BMW motorcycles and used to have a new one very two years, they were for the most superb things spoilt only by the vast majority of my fellow BMW riders and the sales staff. I could rant about them for hours however I need to get some work done :)

Haha I completely agree. I own a BMW and it still amazes me how people automatically assume that I'm a typical Beemer driver (tailgate, no indicators, excessive speeding etc.) and then look completely stumped when they realise I actually drive properly. Unfortunately, it seems that I am the exception to the rule...

Careful now, they do that mass judgement on us gun owners too y'know.

No there's at least one other ahem ahem :good: .

AND as a Beemer driver other Beemer drivers are courteous to you, unlike if you drive a "mass mobile"...Even "mass mobile" drivers defer to you many times...I like when they do that! People should know their place on the roads... :run: :run: :run:

Unlike gun owners, though, anyone can buy a BMW.

Regardless, aside from a few beaters (a SAAB 900 and a Fiat Abarth) until recently I always drove Porsche. Obviously I looked down on BMWs :)

The very nicest people drive classic Land Rovers - and you really have to be able to drive to get one of those round corners at a decent rate. Old Landy drivers share the same sort of bonhomie as bikers. Proper bikers mind, not Beemer riders.

How can you look DOWN on a Beemer from a Porsche ...you're almost sat in a go kart in one of those...Unless you have one of those SUV estate car type things.....

I no longer buy BMW due to the poor reliability I've had.

A series of issues, culminating with my 3.5 yr old 520D engine 'blowing' at 101k miles - timing chain. Common fault with the N47 engine apparently and as it will more likely happen with cars over 100k, good luck to those who want to change the timing chain. It's an engine out job....
And good luck to those who don't ...
