Muzzle loader application

Hello all

I have finally got myself a smoothbore BP muzzle loading musket and would like to buy a BP muzzle loading rifle in the future.
The musket is from the mid 1800's and rifle will about the same age. I have the musket already on my SGC.
Do i need to put a specific bore size on the application/variation i.e. .625 or would just 'muzzle loading rifle' suffice.
Thanks

Muzzle loading rifle should suffice.

Best to check with your certification department as there is little consistency across certification authorities.

Asking you FEO makes sense as stated above there is little consistency across the country.

Or, and it depends where you are buying it you could ask the seller. When I bought my FAC flintlock pistol privately I asked what they had requested and copied it :-)

The point is that you do not need an ammunition authorisation for muzzle loaders so there is no need to align calibres/cartridges on the certificate as you do with metallic cartridge guns.

However such firearms facts are lost on most certification officers.

You don't know off hand where i can find that in writing to quote it on my application.

I submitted a one for one variation to enable the replacement of a .451 I had sold, weirdly this came back as 45 rifle. I asked if this would allow me to buy a .451 as I requested and was told this was not possible under any circumstances, if I wanted a .451 muzzle loading rifle my ticket would have to state .451 muzzle loading rifle.
