Rimfire magic action v modded 1022 Ruger action

I've had any empty slot for a semi for awhile as been thinking of minirifle.
I've read the posts about 1522 but undecided whether to go that way or 1022.
I've lusted over some of the rimfire magic rifles but it will be a used buy. Are there major differences in performance compared to a ruger action with a trigger kit, ext mag release and bolt release?
Also any views on the 12.5 volquartzen barrel.
Cheers Grifff

One other option you might care to consider is the CMMG that was on sale here, I rate my one, and they don't come up for sale that often, which suggests the owners like them. A good bit more solid than a 1522 I think.

I had a rim fire magic 1022, it was a really nice rifle. Reliable with subs too.

My last 1022 had been model by the previous owner, the bolt had been worked on, barrel shortened and crowned, poly buffer etc but grouped like a shotgun. I e shot a few since with mixed results, all of the target barrel guns have been accurate.
My next one will be pimped up. I think the thumbhole laminate stock, 12..5" carbon barrel and rimfire magic action would be the wish list but I want to buy used because I'm tight! So I doubt I'll find the perfect gun hence wondering the difference in actions.

If you're willing to splash the cash then get yourself a Kidd outstanding engineering and very reliable, I've recently bought one to replace my Volquartsen and it's great.I would estimate I've shot 4000 rounds in the last 3 month with one jam where it didn't eject the case completely and one misfire which turned out to be the round which had no primer compound at the site of the firing pin contact.
I've used cheap ammo, expensive ammo, sub sonics and minimags and they all cycled perfectly.
Well worth the investment give Gwyn a call at Black Diamond Custom.

I made the mistake with a 'Rimfire Magic' not much magic with that rifle so, it was re built using Kidd parts with VQ barrel. I would suggest a Volquartsen custom if you have the money. Stockade Products are apparently now the VQ importers. Or go to 'Rude fat Dog' who will build you the rifle you want. Aint much magic with a Rimfire Magic' in my opinion

I have a heavily modified 10/22, see picture (only standard parts are receiver and bolt), it has cost me more than purchasing a rifle from someone like Rimfire Magic or Rude Fat Dog etc.
If you know that you want a modified rifle, then buy that from the start from an RFD / supplier of your choice instead of buying a standard rifle, then modifying as you go; it will be much more cost effective in the long run.
