I have very fond memories of going out to the ranges near the Wash and watching A10s doing gun runs ...

I first thought this was going to be a thread about venerable old 650cc BSA twins. :)
In the 70-80's I worked at a factory near Robertsbridge/Battle that was situated at the end of a valley and on several occasions we saw the A-10's steaming up the valley and breaking off at the last moment, I guess using the factory as an aiming mark.
Not elegant but certainly business like.

I worked at the Brickyards in the 70's and I remember seeing an A10 fly low overhead then drop down into the pit so I could look down onto the pilot before pulling up and out at the other end. Allegedly they would fly through the chimneys however I never witnessed it myself.
We watched Typhoons making bombing runs last week at Donna Nook :)

Ued to see them going to and from practice when at the range in Arizona - awesome machines.
Saw one up close at Pima Air Museum, definitely not something you want being angry at you.

I seem to recall it costs about $7000 in ammo for every 1 sec burst from the GAU-8 Avenger......
