Hi.
I left the military 8 years ago and at the time I never gave a thought to going shooting in civvy street, I'd dismissed it as I thought that full bore gun ownership had been outlawed due to the knee-jerk reactions by the politicians following certain atrocities by unhinged persons and the only shooting allowed was shotgun or olympic target shooting using specialized weapons, and as such thought it was only for the wealthy as I imagined the cost must be high, but never looked into it.
I've followed many YouTube firearms channels and a couple of years ago I saw a short video by a British guy who had a 338 lapua and went long range target shooting in the UK.
After that I did a bit of research into the UK shooting scene and the law regarding firearms ownership and discovered that it isn't that prohibitive and decided to join a club and get my certificates sorted as I used to be quite a decent shot and always enjoyed the range days etc and having a certain amount of disposable income the cost is quite attainable.
I discovered this forum whilst researching places to shoot and the legalities of putting up some targets for private use on private land and found that there is a wealth of knowledge on here regarding all aspects of firearm use in the UK so decided it would be a good forum to sign up to.
