Old spotting scope tripod

Hi all
I have acquired an old spotting scope tripod and it appears to be missing a “locking mechanism” on the extendable stem.
I’ve attached pics of the tripod to see if anyone can supply me with info of what is missing as I need to find one or make something suitable.
