What slots have you asked for? A member at our club asked for 5 or 6 rifles and was only granted 2 if memory serves me right. He was also from Lincolnshire. My advice is to politely and backed with a well-reasoned argument, stand your ground if they try and knock you back too hard. As long as you can justify them and you plan to buy most of them in the short term, everything should be grand.

On the subject of Lincolnshire I applied for a 1:1 on-line a few days ago and promptly received a letter asking for my FAC which was posted out last Friday. Today (Tuesday) they called to confirm details and said FAC would be posted back today/tomorrow which is brilliant and apparently the on-line system is making a real difference. Interestingly they asked about an open S1 shotgun slot I have and were keen to know if I really needed it.
Yup :)

I asked for three .22
one for normal paper punching
one will be a 10/22
one will be a prone target rifle
and also a .17 HMR for vermin and any legal quarry

Our local chap is Tony, an ex dog man and he is extremely good. It is fair to say he told me Zombies were not a good reason to hold another 2500 rounds of rimfire, he also pointed out that I had several thousand in the armoury which I could grab at any time I needed :)
