Hi all, just arrived here following the links on Target Shooter. Been a rough shooter since my early teens, moved over to mainly FB target shooting about errr 4 yeas ago, just filling in my FAC renewal and tagging on a .308 / 7.62 slot :)
Have been using club guns since I joined a club that shoots at Bisley, and now pondering what to get rifle wise. Just about to settle down with a non apple tablet and read th latest copy of target shooter with a coffe.

Cheers

Jon

Welcome to the forum Jon, I must admit I did not spot a link to the forum on TS this month so well done for finding it and us. You are going to get through a lot of ammunition when you get into the swing of shooting at Bisley, have you decided on a type of rifle yet are you going to reload your own?

The club I am a member of is quiet relaxed, and rather than shooting to set disciplines we tend to have our own informal comps. Members just bring along what they fancy shooting, or guns they want to setup for comps at other clubs. I have been using the clubs range of rifles (mainly TR), and have been lucky to shoot other members guns, this tends more towards military stuff including TRGs ARs and Lee Enfields. Range wise its normally 600-800 but we shoot anywhere between 100 and 1000 yards.

I had originally set a tight budget of £1000 to try and get a used rifle and scope combo. But I have decided to try and get some more overtime in over the next couple of months to hopefully raise the budget to £2000, again probably looking at a used rifle. Caliber wise probably going to keep it simple with a 7.62 / .308, purely because that gives me plenty of options with ammo. But I have been reading up on relaoding and would like to give it a bash at some point.

Cheers for the welcome

A .308/7,62x51 is a fine 1000 yard rifle with the bonus of ammunition being available everywhere you go. GBP1-2k gets you a very healthy and accurate rifle as well.

I was talking to someone last night about a very fine .308 that should be advertised on here very shortly for at the bottom of your budget and should give you an idea of what is around when you look :good:

Ovenpaa - the link is there - it was incorrect - as someone pointed out but it's fixed now. Keep reading Target Shooter Jon....
