I have posted up in wanted as I want to know if people are interested in a group buy of Ian Gun Jesus McCollum's new book, Chassepot to FAMAS: French Military Rifles, 1866 – 2016

the standard kickstarter edition of the book is $85 (£65ish) or $105 (£80ish)for a signed edition, BUT they come in at $60 shipping!

Now Ian has started a redit post himself, where he encourages group buys, and says that you can buy 6 copies for that shipping amount, would anyone here be interested in clubbing together for copies? Customs fee would also of course have to be added, but instead of $145 which will probably end up £145 in hand after fees, with six people ordering, @ $570 which would going off same scale be £570, split between 6 of us, £95, +£5 postage each in the UK, so £100 a book. (would require paying kickstarter £430 - £75 each to order, and customs when landed.

are 5 people interested in this? The kickstarter has 30 days. no money is charged before then, I don't mind doing the payment, but I would need peoples payments before this deadline.

From what I can see, I believe I can only order one red copy. So everyone one else is restricted to the blue

Books - of the printed type, which these would be, are, as far as I know, not subject to VAT or import duty or any customs levy provided they are clearly marked as such.

Obviously we must be the only two sad buggers on here interested in historic French firearms.

well we may have to start this sooner, looking at the number of pledges already taken, don't want to miss the boat on my copy. so I'll let this run until weds the 8th, if anyone else is interested, let me know asap. 3 spots left.

If any one else wants a copy, we will be doing signed versions. deposits of £95 required. if it winds up being less you'll get change back.
