The start of my sec 58 collection reduction.
This saddle ring carbine has an interesting history.
On the stock is stamped 101 Ranch 3.
101 ranch was a cowboy movie actor training establishment and I would say it was rifle no 3.
I have some printouts about it.
As far as I can tell its all original - some blueing left.
I think it was made around 1910 - never got to grips with Marlin serial numbers.
Its got a really nice bore and strong rifling.
The name "Chip" is engraved on the butt plate.
The foresight blade is a little loose - could do with repining.
The action is really tight. Suggests to me it was hardly used.
The fore end has been "stippled".
Stamped Model 1893 and "special smokeless steel".
Its really pleasant to handle and one wonders about its history!
Planned on putting it on fac but I know I never will.
£1600 for a quick sale.

PM me the serial number minus the last figure if you’d like, and I’ll date it for you.
