When all you needed were tools to fix cars
No need for a laptop and degree in electronics to fix cars back then

The Avenger had an extra special feature, if you were at a loose end you could sit and watch it rust.

For a while I had a nice little sideline stripping the instruments out of scrapped Dolomites, Toledos, and Stags for kit car enthusiasts. They were the only bits on them worth having.

I seemed to spend half my time, in my youth, pulling apart "A" series engines - A30, A35, A40, Moggies, Midgets, Sprites, Mini's (Elf, Hornet) 1100, 1300, Kestrel, Marina, Allegro, Ital, Metro, Maestro etc. Happy days working on my own in a workshop on a farm.

A`hh A and B series engines and the Ford cross flows you have just reminded me of those wonderful times getting hands dirty.
I swear you could stand and watch the engine and see exactly how it was working and what every component was doing.

I'm sure it was poking a bit of hose in my ear while balancing twin SU's that destroyed my hearing (nothing to do with 60 years of shooting) :)

I've still got the proper tool for doing that and a Mini clutch puller!
