Aye ours are coming on too but its been a slow ripening year with us, must have been the lack of light.

I grow Harbinger and Red Alert best tasting toms I've ever come across, my father used to grow Harbinger outside on the croft in Scotland. Those first tomatoes on my mothers white bread and churned butter with a sprinkling of salt was heaven.

My parents Toms seem late as well.

Anyone growing Chilli's? My Scotch Bonnet's are hopeless this year, the flowers are failing to set, very good crop of Apache's tho :good:

Dromia..

This year I have grown two varieties, haven't a clue as to what they are as I got the seed from 'Toms' that I bought in Tesco, both on the vine type, and delicious.

Having a serious glut of ripe Tomatoes I decided to make some soup. This is the recipe I used. It is very easy and is delicious. On the second batch I added a small amount of finely chopped fresh red chilli pepper. Not enough to seriously alter the wonderful flavour, just enough to give it a little 'Zing'.
When the soup was cooked and through the blender I forced it through a sieve. It ended up about the same consistency as Heinz cream of Tomato soup. But oh so much nicer.

Those toms look great...my gardener brought a bag full over last week.

My cox's orange pippin apples are just ripe for picking...munching a couple everyday now...shall have to watch out for frost though.

:)

We have a deal going with the neighbours. We grow the blackberries and they grow the tomatoes. Got my first toms last week and they were something. Slightly salty tasting.

Where abouts do you live? we have been eating ours since we came home from holiday on 13 August. Probably be all over in two weeks. We have had our last picking of Runner beans (Runaway beans is what my grand daughter calls them) Just letting them go on and collecting the seed for next year (Mostly Scarlet Emperor.)

Home made soup, mmmmmmmmmmm.

Bnz makes a great vegetable one, slop as we call it due to the sound it makes when tipped into freezer bags. :goodjob:
