I put this up for sale a few years ago, then took it down. A rationalisation of my cabinets and other "shiny" things sees me offer this again... a Marlin 336 Octagon in .30-30.

The Octagon models were only produced for one year, in 1973, in .22, .44 and .30-30. They came after the Centennial models of 1971 were produced, literally just to finish off the barrel making machines before scrapping them. Just over 2000 of each model were produced with around 2400, 336 Octagons.

A 22" tapered barrel, just like the guns of the 1890s, a straight stock and this has had a Lyman Tang Sight fitted. Really nice condition and I have owned it for 15 years.

These are not to be confused with the current crop of Ilion, Remington produced, 336s. A very sought after model in the US where they fetch close to $2000! But this isn't the US. Current produced 336 Cowboy models in .30-30 are anywhere from a grand to 1300, given the pedigree, rarity and condition, this is a bargain!

£895

Just to clarify as I’ve had a few messages and others may be thinking the same.

Yes, this is fitted with a Lyman tang sight and a slot blank fills the original dovetail in the barrel. It’s not pictured as these were taken a couple of years ago.
