Hi all,
This is just a quick note to anyone who is interested in shooting in the above matches. Its catered for all types of vinatge to post veteran service and target rifles and is great fun. You get some mouth watering vintage and service rifles being shot in these matches with some extremely high scores being notched.

Mark Hodgins is still accepting applications and any one who wants to join in the fun please contact him via the NRA page here:
http://www.nra.org.uk/common/asp/Calend ... RA&id=2732

The distance shot is at 300 & 500yds using black round bull and Tin Hat targets.

Hope to see some of you on the 18th.

ATB,
Krish

Indeed I am Dave.

I am shooting in 3 matches; the Vintage, with my Sharps, the Classics pre-1919, for which I'll use my BSA SMLE with PH5a and the Veteran SR(a) ( upto 1945)with my No.4 and issue sights. I am still two minds whether I should use my Swede Mausers instead as I am really pants with the Enfields. We were shooting all day yesterday for practice and I wasn't anywhere near the targets I can tell you  The Huns wouldn't have been worried

It's really a good day to see some lovely old rifles being shot.

Last year, IIRC, Mark Hodgins shot a possible of 100.10 with his original Winchester M70 with a Unertl scope in the Open class at 500yds. There are some crack shots scoring near possibles with their ancient service rifles with iron sightsas well.

The Swede could be a good alternative as they can be stunningly accurate. I hope it goes well for you and all the other competitors and the weather gods smile on you.

Sounds like the next time we meet up will be the Phoenix then unless you fancy slumming it at the next Forum McQueen shoot? I am sure I can find you something horribly modern and plastic to shoot if needed :good:

The Swedes are exceptionally accurate. Problem is I dont have any ammo for them at the moment as I have always shot them with my handloads. I am quite confident they would perform better than I can even with factor Prvi. But I do want to take out and air my Enfields. too many rifles lying idle in the safe.

Shoot plastic rifles!!? Sir,I beg you to desist from uttering such blasphemy!!Splutter...Gag...vomit... :D

You do know that the Trafalgar Meeting is on the 22 & 23 of October along with the fair?

I am waiting for the entry forms to come through so I can disgrace myself with the 4(T) Maybe a modest start at McQueen and some Snaps.

Unless you want to tempt me with an Enforcer?

The entry forms came through for me last week. I am sure you can enter via the NRA website?

You have got a No4 (T)? Pray tell more. McQueen would be an ideal place to use it.

HBSA always do good shoots with good courses of fire but Bisley is beyond my financial capability to travel to for personal shoots any more.

No4 M1 with a Kershaw No32 Mk1with the Mk2 index plates, the scope is right at the end of the Mk1 production, within the last half dozen built, so the index plates could well be original as a transition of some form. It is fitted to a Dalgleish bracket. It was FTR'd in the early 50's and bears the electric pencil marks to the left side of the receiver. I picked it up with an original transit case from a HBSA member a while ago.
