My last two club shoots have been cancelled, has anyone managed to get out and do some shooting this weekend?

No chance.
Too icy, too cold and bad back.

Yep, I spent 7 hours on Short Siberia at Bisley today and it was a little chilly! The temperature didn't rise above -1C all day.

7 hours! I have never spent more than a morning or afternoon at Short Siberia and that was mostly on sunny days.

Yep that counts, I was always looking for a source of Woodcock when I was fly tying.

Lapua338,
Don't know if you are at all interested, but the 100 yard point is not 100 yards!
I, and a friend, both with different range finders, stood on the boards at the front of the gravel, and both of us got 107 yards.
This makes little difference to anyone, except possibly those who are trying to confirm that their scope elevation and windage clicks are as manufacturers advertise. This is a process mentioned in Bryan Litz book.
All other ranges I have checked are as advertised,
DM

I can confirm it is neither 100 yards or 100 metres from the benches which is where I normally zero, checking my figures my zero is set at 104.2m

All a bit technical for an ex (leisure) stalker, we only had to hit a hand sized bull at "around" 100 yards to pass muster. Those of us into re-loading did not have much of a problem, but its surprising how some found it difficult. Although on one of my infrequent trips to the range, a guy there was "bragging" at what range he could "grass" Red Deer, and how "powerful" his loads were. When he had his turn at the target, he was only just on the paper, top, side, bottom, anywhere but in the centre. When he had done his stint I asked him about his re-loads, and what he thought made them "powerful". Quite seriously he said, well I look in the reloading data, then put a few more grains in than the recommended load, how few more I asked him, without batting an eye he said - I start at 10 grains above maximum and work up from there.
I never shot on the range with him again. I valued my life.
There was a .223 doing the rounds at this time, it had blown up by its owner overloading the maximum set in the re-loading Data. Its difficult to describe in words what it looked like, forearm blown off, bolt bent like a rusty nail and the breech opened up like a busted orange. How the guy sustained no injury I cannot begin to understand.
Sorry for been off topic.
Regards
Phil*
