I have just checked the F Class forum where I know a few of us are also members. I notice that they have almost double the number of members but hardly any activity on their site. Despite the lack of chat, I check in daily to see if there has been any movement, often I will post a comment or question but find that they are not a very talkative bunch - not something that I find when out shooting with them.
Perhaps they all visit another Forum where they are more active?

Well done to Christel and the moderators for creating this active site and for everyone who is making it work.

It's difficult to know where to drawer the line on freedom of speech and expression, sometimes.

I check the F Class forum first thing every morning and you are right, it is seldom any movement and I notice if there is then it is the 'usual suspects' (I had to go and check and I am in the top 15!) I think American forums and posters are less reserved when it comes to discussing rifles and loads.

We have very few shooting forums in the UK, and even ones with a high number of members are not safe, I used to be a member of a UK BR forum that had 500+ members, despite the membership it ended a few weeks ago, another site has been borne out of it but it also seems to be struggling. A forum is only as good as it's members and this forum at 4 weeks old today give or take a day has some solid posters who can post on all subjects. Perhaps 'knowing' who the other posters are made it's start up easier. We have some highly knowledgeable shooters and re-loaders here covering all disciplines and I suspect as membership rises so will the frequency of posts in these areas and I look forward to reading and contributing in these areas.

So yes, well done Christel, not only does she have to put up with me she also has a forum to maintain.

F class, whats that?

Is it like F troop?

Not altogether connected, but something else I have noticed about F Class in the UK, and to some extent all shooting in the UK, is that when a big competition is finished in the USA, you will often see a table of who was using what. So it is easy to see what actions are being used, who's barrels are up to scratch and what scopes, bullets, powders etc are used by those doing the winning.

I guess sponsorship is partly behind that, with those being sponsored, keen for everyone to know that their product is best, to continue the sponsorship deals.

Not much we can do about that this side of the pond, but I would like to see it reported somewhere, somehow.

Can those who shot pistols competitively remember if this was always the case?

When I shot pistol results at club/county level were on an A4 sheet posted in the clubhouse, occasionally a typed copy of national comps was stuck on the notice board as well, after that is was word of mouth or an old magazine. Truth be know I would usually only recognise the names of the people I was directly shooting against.

Laurie Holland and myself do most of the write-ups for the GB FCA League shoots. These appear in Target Shooter and on the F Class website at www.f-class.org.uk

We don't specifically list who uses what but it's often contained in the text. At the end of the year we always interview the League winners and give full details of their equipment.

Obviously, all the F/TR guys are shooting 308 with the exception of Laurie and his 223. Again, in Open Class, the 7mmWSM still rules the roost. Most are built on custom actions like the BAT, Barnard, Stolle etc.

I'll try and remember to list equipment - and gunsmiths - of the top few.
