Clubs near Stirling

#1 Post by shugie »

Looks like we might be on the move north next year as the wife's work may move to Stirling, and I can work anywhere the internet is ok. Are there any good clubs within sensible distance of Stirling, and more importantly in the short term, either a club with an armoury or a RFD who doesn't want to charge eye watering storage charges?

And what are the polis like for FAC issuing and storage requirements, I wasn't shooting when last I stayed north of the border?

We moved up to Falkirk a few months back. See: https://www.full-bore.co.uk/viewtopic.php?p=428528 where I asked the same question :-)

It's good up here :-)

Paperwork is still in progress, due to a hiccup at the Met sending my papers over, but the local team seem good so far.

I kept my firearms down south with a friendly RFD until I had my cabinets installed up here - it means an extra trip to collect them, but easier than going in cold if you already have a good RFD down south.

Plenty of clubs - depends on what you're looking for. Smallbore? A few Lord Roberts clubs. Practical? Recoil Scotland. Vintage? Vintage Arms Scotland. Multi-disciplinary? Callander, Alloa or Clyde Valley (although it's a good hour from Stirling).

Plenty more too - PM me if you want details.

Good luck if you make the move - we're glad we did.

If you've got any airguns, remember to apply for an air weapon certificate.

Probably not much further from where I plan to stay than it is from here to Bisley, where are longer distance clubs based, 300m and upwards?

Back from a pre-Christmas recce, traffic seems to be noticeably worse than when I stayed in Falkirk, but that was 40 years back. Callander looks ok, what does their local club shoot?

And does anyone have contact details for an RFD in central Scotland who has reasonable storage charges, I'd not want to be driving back and forth too often, it takes most of a day and more than a tank of fuel?
