RCBS Berdan decapping tool

I have seen these for sale occasionally, but they have been priced at over £100. I didn't want one that much. I was looking at a dealer's website recently and noticed a second hand one for sale at less than half the new price so I thought I would have it for curiosity if nothing else. Has anyone else used one of these? I have watched the you tube videos and they make it look easy. I had a go with some ex Middle East 7.62x51 machine gun cases that I didn't mind if I ruined them. It is fiddly and the pin has to be adjusted to suit the case. It did de-cap them once I got it adjusted. I marked a few anvils in the cases and the tool scratches the cases where it hooks in to the extractor groove. I don't think I will be using this for regular Berdan decapping. It might be useful for occasional small numbers of cases, but I will stick with the Wamadet wet decapper for my regular Berdan decapping. I wish the Wamadet would de-cap my ex military 8mm Lebel cases, but the case head is too big to fit the cylinder. I found out today that the Bulgarian 8x56R cases just fit in the Wamadet so I decapped a hundred. I will try some of these with some cast bullets I have got for that calibre.

Yes, I have one. It works quite well but I never bother these days.

This is how I de-prime 7.62 Nato Berdan cases, a coach bolt with the shank of a 1/16" drill bit set into the end and a Lee de-burring tool to remove the primer crimp.

easier & cheaper to make a open base cylinder & a piston - anvil - put the cases in with water, place the anvil & thwack! primer blows out the bottom.... builds up arm muscles too!
