Licensed gun owners have been urged to hand in their weapons over fears burglaries could see them fall into criminal hands.
In a review of licensed gun holders across the north-west carried out by the force, it was found 200 guns had been stolen in the past three years.

Perhaps the BASC will challenge the 200 stolen gun figures.....................................or not !

The ECHO has revealed Mr Rimmer, Ms Dale and Ms Edwards were all shot by criminals using Skorpion machine pistols. The gun, described as "battlefield weaponry", is capable of discharging 850 rounds in a minute.
Which were stolen from a legal gun-owner's house .........apparently.

32 ACP is hardly a "battlefield weapon" .
This is the editors email address :
maria.breslin@reachplc.com
Perhaps if she gets a lot of emails pointing out some real facts and questioning what the "trainee reporter" has written , she may try to be a bit more balanced .
And the BASC's head of firearms is away till late next week .

32acp was absoloutley a calibre found on the battlefield. maybe not a modern battlefield but getting hit by 10 32's will still put quite a hole in you

Certainly considered so in WW1 - The Pederson device was designed to turn the standard service rifle into a .32acp 40 round semi-auto rifle. Great, cost effective idea but the war ended before is saw service.

Whatever next? Owners of luxury cars should turn them over to Merseyside police because their cars are prime targets for theft? Jewellery owners should take their prized possessions down to their local nick because these are the sort of items criminals prefer to steal? Is this crap actually spilling out of a senior officer's mouth? Or is the 'trainee reporter' putting them there?
Someone should tell the editor that as they haven't expended much time and effort in training this idiot, it is still financially viable to sack him and get someone in that can be arsed to do some basic research.
