The clue is in the sentence that begins "A newspaper carried quotes........."
I'd like to know if a police officer actually made the quoted statements, or did they spring from the febrile mind of a hack on the local rag, wanting to make a name for themself.

I'm not holding my breath......

The original article quoted a senior Merseyside police officer as making the comments.

Police completely fail to keep law and order in Merseyside and cannot guarantee public safety or property security, therefore the law-abiding and being told to get rid of all their possessions so the lawless cannot steal them.
Well done Merseyside Police. :good:

Next they will suggest that they will be reducing the numbers of legally owned cars due to the number of accidents involving stolen cars! Oh wait... no... that would lose them votes!
