New rifle for me.

A club member bought this rifle in a fit of enthusiasm but soon grew tired of it. He fired 100 rounds of Prvi 168 grain match ammunition and it then sat in his cabinet. He was looking to get rid of it and took it to three different dealers but none would take it from him. This type of rifle is not something I would normally look at as it is not old and has no wood on it. However, I did look at it and made an offer that he accepted. He was almost ready to give it away just to be rid of it. So, he took a large financial hit and I got an almost new rifle at a bargain price. It is a Remington 700 PCR in .308 made in January 2019 according to the date code. I have shot it and it shoots fine. I am not used to scope sights so on a learning curve. On most of my rifles the sights adjust in 100 yard increments so moving in fractions of an inch is new. Overall, I am glad I bought it.
Regards
Peter.

Christ!
Now that is fucking ugly.
Not quiet a Mas 36 but close.
Still if it pleases you, then a good rifle it is.

A proper rifle!

No need for

if it gets wet, a bit warm, a worm looks at it the wrong way, its slightly moist in your house or the French polishers aren't available that day to fix a cabinet ding!

I found a really nice late one not that long ago, shoots surprisingly well for an ugly duckling

The Mas 36 is a fine rifle which I enjoy immensely and could be called the ultimate bolt action battle rifle.
It is a complete triumph of function over form.
Great to shoot and load for but a horror to look at.

Watched the new Eddie Redmayne series based on the "Day of the Jackal" and his "take down" rifle is distinctly lacking in beauty. Looks a bitty "F" class/bench rest and girders.

Hello
The Vietnamese acquired quite a few after the Battle of Dien Bien Phu in Indochina 1954.

It's a long way from benchrest or F Class but then again I never realised anyone bought a rifle based on looks - ugly rifle shoots brilliant - beautiful rifle shoots s*** - are you saying you'll go for the 'looker'?
