Forum rules
Posting of negative comments in the Gunshop section could bring unwanted criticism on the forum, having said that it is important to let members know if dealings with a Gunshop were less than ideal for you. To that end we will allow what will be known as the 'Scotsgun Ruling'

The Scotsgun Ruling:

>Add Gun Shop here<

"As I've yet to have a 'positive' experience there, I'll refrain from commenting further."

Beyond that please take it up with the Gunshop, if you do resolve the issue in a agreeable manner let us know!

Mcavoy Guns

#1 Post by Tallguy »

Sadly Mcavoy Guns in Standish are closing at the end of January 2025. They are currently selling off their inventory and have sone great prices on products. Sad to see them go, always helpful on the phone. Another good gun shop gone.

Sad news, never good when a gun shop closes.

Hello
Every time I attended you could not get near the counter it was always that busy.
Is it closing and being turned into a curry restaurant or is a new owner going to take it over as a going firearms concern ?????????

It is shutting for good.

You are right, it has always been really busy and I believe it's not through lack of trade that it is closing.

I understand the owner is retiring.

"After much deliberation and with some reluctance, we have taken the very difficult decision to retire.
Whilst not averse to selling the business for the right price, we have not advertised it for sale.
We feel probably the easiest route for us is to simply sell up the stock we currently have at discounted prices and then close the doors."

Regards
Peter.
