Trigger replacement

#1 Post by steve853 »

Hi all
I’m looking for a better trigger for my Kriss Defiance, wondering if anyone has any recommendations?
I’d like a single stage trigger with a short reset, for rapid fire in practical shooting, unsure where to start looking really

Is the Kriss Defiance a standard AR lower?
If so then there is lots of choice.

As far as I know it is, yes. It’s the choice that’s the problem, there’s so many.
Normally you google stuff like this and a handful of options and a few good suggestions come up, but there’s not a lot of answers for the Kriss, but a lot of options in the shops.

CMC, Triggertech and Geiselle are probably the most common i've come across. But there are dozens of options within each brand for single/two stage, pull weight, reset 'aggression', trigger design etc etc.

Personally I prefer a single stage trigger for practical, you don't have you finger on the trigger for a long time prior to the shot being taken so the benefits on a two stage are wasted IMO. I wouldn't get a trigger with a pull weight of less than 2.5-3lbs for a mini-rifle. I like an aggressive reset on my triggers but again thats personal preference.

I have flat blade triggers in all of my rifles/shotguns (where possible) as it just feels nicer to me and more 'crisp' on the break. I have a CMC single stage 3lb in my main mini-rifle and a Triggertech Diamond single stage, 1.5-4lb (adjustable) in another AR (that one is used for target and pest control as well though).

Budget plays a factor of course but all triggers seem to have gone a bit silly now and you can expect to pay £220-500+.

If you're a member of a club that does mini-rifle or just go along to an open/Level 1 match go along and ask people if you can try a few. As long as you're providing the ammo most people are more than happy to let you try their kit.

That is very helpful, thank you. I was also thinking about the CMC single stage, I have a few different platforms so I’m going to try that one first, apparently it’s quite old now but the fact that it’s still for sale speaks volumes.

Can't go wrong with CMC or Geiselle - had both in AR's I previously owned. Just picked up a Kriss DMK22 at the weekend, looking forward to getting out and shooting it this week :)

Just spotted you shoot at NCB, they have regular mini-rifle comps including Level 3 (National level) matches. Have a mooch round and ask what people have in theirs (obviously not just before they're about to shoot the stage). Jonno is getting more into mini-rifle now and will be able to keep you right :good:
