We held our Village Bonfire Party last night,As usual several hundred people turned up for what must be one of the few completely free displays. All funded by villagers through donations and of course people are invited but are under no obligation to put some cash in the bucket on the night… Some images of the day…

Looks like you had a great night. Must be nice when you have a real community spirit to help arrange these things.

We just enjoyed listening to the bangs in the distance. We could have gone to a display down in Southend on Sea but we decided it wasn't fair to leave our cats by themselves. One is an old hand and sleeps through it but the other is still nervous as it is only the second firework night he has experienced.

Some friends suggested going to a pub's firework display ... which co-incided with a Real Ale weekend.

It was £16 / ticket! A bit overpriced was my initial though but we went - knowing the beer is always good.

So, for that price you got: 1 large sausage in roll with onions and mushrooms, 1 large burger and onions, 1 fresh cooked pork roll - plenty of pork from the full pig on a spit. All of the food was excellent and beer below normal price.


The fire was almost as good as Jenks' plus about £2k or more of fireworks.


It was actually pretty good value.
