Good reading. Must keep an eye out for when it airs on TV.

This caught my eye...

"During the course of the war, one firm, Birmingham Small Arms (BSA), produced nearly 500,000 Browning guns."

Quite a lot

I wonder if I should have a word with my FEO?

For historical research of course.

Fun would have noting to do with it

I thought this was a great story until I got to this bit right at the end...
The machine guns will now be made safe and join the rest of the aircraft on permanent display in Derry,
Made safe, or as we call it, wrecked for ever. :x

Thinking about this just now made me wonder what happened to all that ejected brass? Was it contained within the wing or did it drop straight out to atmosphere? Hopefully one of our ex-airmen will be able to answer that one - or perhaps it's common knowledge and I've just led an 'even-more-sheltered-than-I thought' life!

Doz,

It came out of slots in the bottom of the wing; I know through years of making Airfix models!!

You can see them in this picture:

I did laugh when Snow put on body armour and a helmet to fire the thing!
