Oh indeedy ! I saw this when I was over at Richard's picking up another rifle and it's certainly every bit as good as the advert says. Unfortunately, I didn't have either the funds or a free spaces on my FAC...

I've got a Lithgow #2mk4; a great shooter and would be more accurate with better sights. I traded a Rasheed carbine for it and felt I got the better of the deal. A lot of the Lithgow .22s came here to the States when Jon Jovino Co. imported vast quantities of arms and parts from Lithgow. We've also seen a fair number of Ishapore rifles converted to #2mk4 standard. The #7 rifles were around for awhile being sold by Springfield Sporters but they were all missing (if I remember correctly) the bolt head and maybe the ejector. A couple enterprising individuals made the missing parts and got them back into action. I've only seen one #9 rifle here in 30+ years of buying and viewing Lee Enfields. When I was assigned to West Germany/Bavaria with the Army in the late 70s the Waffen Frankonia shop in Wurzburg had a rack of new looking #9 rifles but I couldn't import one to the U.S. so I missed out getting one for myself.

Sigh, my .22 trainer days are behind me now as Dave knows. I recall my No2 Mk4 was an Ishapore rifle, none the worse for that, a real shooter though and a heavy old 'ting.
