Any views on what is going to do well for 2012 in the F Open class and what the up and coming cartidges are going to be, is this another year of domination by the ultra high BC 7's or can we hope to see something new?

I'm not sure of whats out there thats not been tried, obviously the 7wsm seems to be the cartridge of choice at the moment but i wonder if people will sustain 700-900 round barrel lifes particularly since the league is switching to string shohting this year

I do wonder how much of a hit on barrel life string shooting will have. Burning a barrel in 450 rounds maybe?

Im not sure how long the times are to complete the course of fire but on a warm day shooting 2+20 i can see it being an issue

String shooting will definitely cut barrel life.

In a 7mmWSM the barrel will do about 700 rounds but for benchrest only 500 - I can see string shooting cutting it to around 5-600 rounds.

I think this is why the Americans didn't go for the 7mmWSM and stuck with the 6.5-284.

For the Worlds, I reckon the straight 284 will be popular. Having said that, I'd still go with a WSM.
The 300WSM could be an option.

The 2013 F Class world champs will be held here:

http://www.nrawc.org/ (New Mexico)

Between the 23rd and 27th August

It is way up in the mountains and you will find your settings will be out from Sea level,

Good luck

Elevation 2000 metres and a quite unpredictable range...

thanks all will check out links

Quick question besides the elevation!

Would an increase in the heat profile (eg 20 Celsius) necessitate a powder change ?

if so how would you go about such a exercise?
