Some really high quality images taken 70 years ago ... They are amazing and have lasted really well, I just wonder how much post processing was done after scanning.

Good pictures. The site linked back to here http://www.shorpy.com/image/tid/179 which shows many more images from the same era. Some fascinating and very high quality stuff.

That ring that guy is wearing, was that normal for that time?

Looks to me to be silver with a turquoise stone?
Very...alternative :P

Yeah but in the '40s?

It is the kind of thing one buys at the markets these days...well it looks that way.

Those photos look as they have been enhanced with modern techniques , but if you look at the aircraft and gun everything looks brand new , but if it was a recreated photo and it was 70 years old it wouldnt look that good , so I reckon the ring is genuine .

Service or Vetran rings. Very popular in the US still today.
