Off road trip

An off road trip in the nearby mountains from a couple years ago. We went from about 2,500ft to 7,500ft into the snow and ice and then back down again. We sqeezed in a bit of .22 plinking and had a good time.

This was as far as we could get, the trail was iced over and too slippery to continue

The trees were covered with ice blown onto them by high winds. Very pretty but cold!

My friend's Jeep was starting to slide to the downhill side of the slope so we called it a day

An abandoned cabin that we came across on the way back down the mountains

Time for some plinking with the pump .22 rifle! young son getting ready to do in pine cones placed on a safe backstop

Take that evil pine cones!

An abandoned charcoal kiln
The mountains have many old cabins, mines, and other enterprises that went bust. They are fun to explore but the killjoys in the Forest Service are doing their best to level them or fence them off so no one can get close to them. :(
