Remember that day as if it was yesterday. It was the hope of the end of a 4 years nightmare for all of us.
Have somewhere the recollections of a friend whose birthday was 6th June and who witnessed the crash of a german fighter who overflew the landing beaches on that day and whose only words after the crash were 'Tommies uberall...Tommies uberall'..Perhaps one of those fighters who flew over anglo-Canadian landings and related in 'The longest Day'.
I will search for the story I wrote years ago and publish it (one day) here.
