Hi all from Central Scotland

Hi all, real name Mike, have my FAC and SG certificates and although I occasionally go clay shooting with the old 12g sbs I prefer to use it for rabbits, crows etc.

I'm downgrading my rifle collection, as I rarely get shooting time thanks to a hectic family life.

My 22/250 and .303 are with North Ayrshire Shooting Ground for sale, but I'm keeping my little .22 rimmy, in fact I was out with it last weekend shooting rabbits on my local golf course.

That's where I do most of my shooting - the golf course - obviously with written permission from the club! It's an early start - like to be off the course by 6:30am as that's when the grounds staff start, so I like to be starting by 4am to make sure I can take my time and cover the full course area before it's time to stop.

Hi and welcome to the forum.

So do you take the rabbits with you?

Sometimes - depends on how cleanly shot they are to be honest - when I do take them back, I gut, skin and joint them, and usually the meat is then minced, mixed with minced pork belly, and transformed into bunny burgers

Not been out much this year, and the results were a bit disappointing - there are a few folk with permissions for the course, and the rabbits get a fairly hard time of it! You only get one shot, and they clear off right quick, and the open nature of the course means long range shots are the norm. With subsonic .22's it's often hard to get within accurate range, and I'd rather the rabbit spooked and ran off that I took a pot shot and injured it instead of a clean kill.
