Tech question for F ers

While talking to Brian of fox firearms (and buying a Barnard S action and kelbly trigger for a new project) he showed me a new stock he had (prototype) for f class it was a barrel block job, I mentioned that I thought that in f-class the block had to be 4"or less, the block was longer. Could any f class boys tell me if I am right or wrong, I may have been thinking of benchrest.

Regards

Steve

i dont think there is a ruling on action blocks as long as rifle makes weight rulings and for end isnt wider than 3 inches

I don't think the word 'barrel-block' or any reference to how the barrel is supported, appears in the F Class rules. I've never even seen or heard a barrel-block rifle in F Class.

However, I've just put together a rifle on the barrel-block stock and very nice it looks. Although the stock is expensive you will save on bedding, inletting, painting etc. The stock is too heavy for an F/TR rifle but ideal for Open Class.

Barrel-blocks are usually the preserve of heavy 1000 yard benchguns but even then, there is no restriction on the length of the block.

Cheers
Vince

Incidentally - listers might like to know that Brian Fox is currently in hospital following a heart attack. Hopefully, it was a small one - he is in good spirits and never off the 'phone!!

I'm sure that if anyone is in the midst of a deal with Brian, they need not worry.

Cheers
Vince

Steve,
There is definately no restriction on barrel blocks in the rules - so go for it.
