I see that nasty sport of rifle shooting doesnt even get a mention, despite Martynov shooting a max 600 = olympic record.

Hmmmm - no British interest, no record broken, and you expect it to be front page news faster than yesterdays British shooting gold? I doubt the scores have even been verified yet!

Do we have people shooting .22 prone over 50m much in the UK? Which Bisley range can provide this?
Cracking score, some very good shooting. I would have quite liked to occupy one of the empty seats at the back, perhaps I wouldn't have seen too much, but it would have been an interesting experience. Every time I tried to get them, the Locog site said no shooting tickets, so who bought them and didn't turn up I wonder?

The Lord Roberts Centre has the ranges but you can be lucky to get them due to weddings conferences and such like needed to keep the white elephant going.

Re the Lord Roberts comment.................three times over the last 18 months I've been unable to shoot at Lord Roberts owing to "functions" despite having booked over the phone on one occasion, only to be told, having driven 50 miles, "Sorry, we're getting ready for a wedding".
The look on my face prompted a rapid about turn and a lane was made ready.............
Found a 50 and 100yd outdoor range much nearer home now.

Quite a bit, but it's not as common as the usual domestic 25 yards. Most of the clubs around me have facilities for 25 & 50, although most of the 50's are semi-indoor at best, so it can be less appealing to train all year round due to light and weather.

Is a rifle from 1999 old? I think I'd rather use ammunition from 1985.

It's an older Anschutz which are frankly the mutts nuts, the guys I know who do prone and replace old with new have claimed they have nowhere near the same build quality

There are hundreds of people shooting .22 Prone at distances from 15-100 yards, sadly we don't have many all electronic ranges like the ones used for the Olympics, there is obviousl the Cooper range at Bisley and also a cracking facility up at Denwood near Aberdeen. but there are neous paper ranges dotted about the Counry.
It's the NSRA Championships at Bisley starting next weekend where they take over Century range to shoot a combination of 50mtr and 100yard on paper comps, and also as mentioned on the Malcolm Cooper range in the Lord Roberts Centre shooting electronic SUIS ASCCOR target systems

The NSRA can't afford it without hiring it out - it costs £200k pa to run the Centre. They can't get rid of it either!
