I wonder what a Russian soldier defending Stalingrad would say to him ? One shot one kill thats what matters , something thats going to stop the incoming was more important 70 years ago ! Still everyones entitled to their own opinion he has his .

Sort of undermined his case somewhat when he found difficulty in stringing more than two words together when he wasn't swearing.

Totally stupid to demand the same accuracy of todays rifles from one 70yds ago. Especially one manufactured in primitive conditions and by poorly skilled labour. I once read that the rifles were tested for accuracy against the factorys rear wall before being sent straight to the front. In some cases the front was only a few streets away.
The nagant was essentially a workhorse that could be used reliably in the worst of conditions. I very much doubt his Rem700 or even most of todays high maintenance, assault rifles would survive the conditions experienced in Stalingrad, etc

Well said.
That was the point after all. It was a battle-rifle, designed for...wait for it... battle! It was not designed for sitting comfortably on a rifle-range firing point, casually plinking lead into a target that wasn't advancing and/or firing back at you.
