has anyone got an RCBS collet bullet puller? do they do any damage to the bullet when it's being removed? I know the blurb says not but I''ve got about 40 rounds .308 to pull and thought it could be easier than the kinetic hammer.

My neighbour uses one or similar and seems to get on OK with it, I use a Quinetic hammer myself and once you get into the swing (Literally) It is quick and convenient for me and I have pulled 60 plus .303's in the past. The plus side is no marks on the bullet, downside is speed as each case has to be pushed through the collets and locked in etc. Also potential powder contamination as I pour mine into a bowl and fish around with my fingers to get them out.

You forgot to mention all the swear words that goes with using the kinetic hammer.

Even worse was on one occasion realising some primers were not fully seated on finished home loads and having to put them back in the primer tool to push the primers in that last little bit..

I used one to pull 50 9mm rounds last month and it worked fine. I know what the others are saying bout the flinch though. The first time i used it, it felt very unnatural being that rough with ammo! :?

The hammer i got has a 8mm thick foam insert in the 'catch' area to stop the bullets being damaged.

I pulled the ammo because i got 3 squib loads (jamming bullets in the chamber of the gun :x ) so i thought there was a problem with the powder. However after i'd pulled all 50 i burned the powder which produced a spectacular (and somewhat unexpected - fortunately i was outdoors) 5 second 3ft high blue/green flame!

I bought one last week and took 50 .223s apart that I had overloaded. Cost £24.95. Easy to use just make sure you put the col-let in up the right way. I reused every bullet, power and case. Some did take quite a few bangs to get them out as some were crimped.

ive got one and used it for pulling hand made bukkets and berger bullets and it marked every single one

go for the kinetic type

If in doubt I throw mine on the garden as it is supposed to make a very good fertiliser however I did notice one of the Roses looking a bit manky afterwards so maybe not....
