New Barrel Fluting & Muzzle Brake - Armalon/Rem 700 .308

Most of the guys who use bolt-action rifles at the club I shoot with have fluted barrels and/or muzzle brakes, so I thought I'd bite the bullet and join the 'me too' club. I gave the rifle back to Armalon and just got it back today. Results look nice and it's definitely lighter than it used to be (should have weighed it before/after). Looking forward to trying it out on Sunday.

Very nice fluting, how are the edges, I found a few to be quite sharp.

The first rifle I shot in the UK was a .308 with a brake fitted and I've been around people shooting with 'em fitted ever since, so I personally don't know any different. I can obviously tell the difference between being blasted in the side of the head and not, but doesn't particularly bother me. But.... I have heard that some people aren't quite so keen. tongueout

Ovenpaa, I didn't notice any sharp edges earlier, but then I wasn't specifically checking for them. I'll have a look and report back.

Very nice rifle! I like it

Some brakes are just for looks.
The ones that really work are a pain it the arse for everyone on the range but the shooter.
Some are so bad I have nicely asked the shooter using it to give warning before touching off a round.
When they refused to do so (they thought it was funny) I changed shooting stations to their right and started doing mag dumps showering them with hot brass.
They asked me to stop. I thought it was funny and dumped a few more mags.
