.32/20 under lever. Single shot. Double set trigger. Non eject. Double leaf rear sight and original foresight. Fantastic condition, shoots very well.
Pecar Berlin 3x36 1930's scope with rings and base with standard 30/30 cross hairs. Very good condition, clear optics. Windage adjustment cover missing.
Plaited leather sling included.
Also 50 live rounds in plastic ammo box.
60 new Winchester brass.
85 once fired Winchester brass.
200 .32/20 RNF cast lead bullets, (115gr).
Lee 3 die set plus shell holder and instructions.

Indeed it is. It just isn't getting much use so I'd like it to go to a good home. Really is a good little rifle to shoot.

A little time with "Rifles of the World", tells me this is a Sauer & Sohn Tell Stalking Rifle. Made from 1911 till the start of the war, they were chambered for a plethora of low pressure cartridges. Surprisingly for a very European rifle, British rook cartridges and US cartridges were not left out.

Apart from the usual embellishments on individual guns or dfference in the quality of the materials, the guns were offered in two models, this one and a "takedown". The takedown is distinguished by a lever on the left hand side of the reciever and was regarded as the "standard". No take down, then slightly cheaper version.

Underneath the barrel block a four digit code should be there. This is when the gun was sent for proof and is no more complicated than; "1111" = November 1911. "0431" April 1931.

Hopes this helps a little. I would give space in my cabinet to a gun like this all day long! Good luck with the sale.

Thank you Simon, very informative. I've always had a vision in my mind of some German or Austrian gent in his tweed type outfit wandering through the woods with a rifle like this over his arm.
It was mentioned that it was a good quality rifle as the screws have been diamond cut.

Hmmm, a mighty fine rifle ooman ! 'Twould look good in the sett armoury, but we don't hand load and presumably the 32 -20 round is not readily available over the counter?

Proof marks under the wood. On the far left is 400 so I am guessing April 1900.

Crown with the R underneath is for reproofed black powder, London, 1868-1925.

The .32-20 is available over the counter and in quite a few places. If your local place doesn't stock it, they'll have no trouble getting it. There are half a dozen companies that load it, including the original, Winchester.
