It would make good firewood. If not for all that keyholing metal mixed in with it.
The above comments are all in jest.
I love the SMLE and No4, both are very fine firearms.
I myself have had bad luck with Enfields. Out of over 20 owned, only one did not keyhole every round, and I had to build that one from different bits and pieces just to have one that made round holes.

That seems to be quite a common thing with Enfields in the US. I've heard from loads of SRF guys that their Enfields do, or did, keyhole.
I wonder why?
Maybe we got the better bored ones?
I've also been told the you WILL get keyholes if you use boat-tails in an Enfield. I use 'em, and I can hold the black at 600 yards with my SMLE.

My SMLE will hold the inner at 600x with 180gr S&B 2909 bullets.
The nut behind the butt can only mannage the magpie!
My Ishapore number five with a barrrel like a rusty gas pipe has hit the V bull with three successive shots at 900x with the same bullet.
If you get the load right, most guns will perform well but remember, only the Enfields selected for snipers were capable of a four inch or less group at 100x. For the rest, 12 or so inches was enough (chest size)

My Ishapore
I need to rephrase my comments. The Ishapore's in 7.62mm i have owned shot well, and seemed to be the only ones I have had that were made to any common standard. All my .303's seemed like the only measuring instruments used during the construction were a piece of string and some bent wire.
I have had great looking bores with sharp rifling that ranged from .310 to .317.
