Hi all,
Just completed my probationary period (6 months) and have now been accepted at two clubs in my area. To say I'm relieved is an understatement. Application forms sent away, cabinet installed.Just waiting on a visit from Fire arms Officer to get my Xmas list sorted. Happy days!
Hopefully I'll be posting all my trials and tribulations on this forum along with a gazillion questions. I'll thank you all in advance :)
Regards
John

Welcome John.
Where in the UK are you?
There is an option in your CP to put your club(s) in.

If that's Pinewood in Crowthorne, I might get to meet you at some point, intending to look at joining them. The idea of being able to shoot inside in the winter does have some appeal, even if it's only .22.

Hi Shugie
Yes, Crowthorne.
They are a good bunch, I've learned a hell of a lot from them. Hopefully more to come.

Welcome to F-B(UK) John, getting the probation period over and done with is always a good step, now you can start to learn. What rifles and distances do you want to shoot?

Hi ovenpaa,
Well for the last six months I've been shooting 22 semi and bolt action, along with a bit of .357, all doing gallery stuff. In may I took myself down to Bisley for the open day and had a bash on Stickledown, according to my "spotter" I did quite well for a first timer. So my FAC has been filled out with the above although I doubt I'll be jumping in at 1000yrds for a while more like 100yrds and take it from there.
So I've requested a slot for 7.62 / 308. Not sure what though.
I'm in the process of filling in my application for the NRA which is just around the corner from me so that will be really handy, no doubt I'll be doing a "range test" when a slot comes available. Gun wise I like the looks of a Remington Police or similar, I guess I've got a whole lot of reading to do when it comes to types and calibers so I won't be jumping in too deep. Oh yeah forgot to mention that I would like to do practical shotgun too at some point!
Regards
John

Welcome! It's a great feeling to pass your probation isn't it!? If you want to get into practical shotgun, there are two places near you
http://phoenixshootingclub.co.uk/ who shoot near Guildford
And Romsey Shooting Club which shoots just outside Basingstoke and another place further afield. (their website looks to be down at the moment - PM me for contact details if you want them)
