The difference a spring makes....

Reliability on one of my guns is gone, especiallt with it's chosen ammo.....

I have a Volquartsen 10/22 Supa Lite, with a Volquartsen Competition bolt, Volquartsen TG2000 trigger unit, 14" Adams & Bennet heavy match barrel, with a Volquartsen muzzel brake. All sat in a Boyds stock, topped off with a Leupold 2-7x33 in Warne mounts.

I had Roger at SYSS build it about 10 years ago for when I was really into Bianchi and 1500. As my "comp" gun, it never let me down and the accuracy, with Eley Sport, surprised everyone. At 50yds, off the bench, this gun would give a ragged hole and under an inch at 100, and 100% reliable. Perfect as far as I was concerned.

I lost the recoil spring and guide rod. Bugger! VQ wouldn't send one from the US!! WTF! Anyway, Sheila at SYSS managed to find a rod and spring as they stopped doing the comp bolts years ago. In it goes. Accuracy is spot on, but reliability has gone out of the window!! Out of a mag of 10, three to four failures to eject. It's not the mags either. I surprising found a brand new mag and had the same results.

Reliability I've solved by switching to Federal HV stuff, but accuracy has tailed right off! Saying that, at 25yds it will put 20 rounds into a group that can be covered with a 2p coin.

Bloody annoyed! A couple of thousand rounds of HV to break the spring in?
